What's beyond Machu Picchu, Titicaca lake, Colca canyon, Cusco and Arequipa in Peru?

November 18, 2017

Machu Picchu, Titicaca lake, Colca canyon, Cusco and Arequipa are top-tourist attractions in Peru. Beyond the famous historical site and the largest lake in South America Peru is known for its "exotic" cuisine! 3200 (or more) - this is the number of potatoes types in Peru - they vary in shapes and colors; there are even deep purple variety. Just imagine mashed potatoes with this color :) Maize (corn) is yellow or orange... at least in Europe. In Peru, however, you will find a whole palette in a single maize cob. The famous Chicha Morada drink is made of purple corn. Cuy (or Guinea pig) could be your pet at home... but not in Peru and Ecuador - they are bred, much like chickens, to be later served as a delicacy. So, forget your prejudices and try the local cuisine while traveling. You will be pleasantly surprised :)
